A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his wife and a six-month-old boy at the Tshiombo clinic in Mutale, outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo police said on Sunday.
Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the murders happened on Friday.
“It is alleged the 32-year-old father who is a security guard in Gauteng hit his 23-year-old wife and their son following a heated argument.”
Mulaudzi said it was understood the man found out that his wife was having an affair and in an attempt to resolve the dispute, the couple approached the local social workers for assistance.
“The husband became enraged when it came to light that the six-month-old baby was not his. In frustration he stormed out of the consultation room, his the wife followed him and inside the clinic premises he picked a brick and bashed both the wife and the baby.”
The security guards at the clinic were able to restrain him and the police were called.
Clinic staff were unable to resuscitate the two.
Mulaudzi said the man was expected to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
