A ruling on a bail bid by Achmat Toffa, accused of the murder of Bruno Bronn, owner of the gay night club The Bronx, was postponed on Wednesday.
Toffa was the only one of the four suspects still in custody.
The judgment was scheduled for 2pm on Wednesday in the Cape Town District Court, but defence attorney William Booth had taken ill.
The matter was postponed to August 15.
During the bail proceedings, it was alleged that Toffa, using a cellphone in prison, had called co-accused Johan Frederick Coetzer to threaten him with death unless he testified at their trial in accordance with Toffa's instructions.
Coetzer was threatened with death if he “told the truth” about the alleged murder.
Because of this call, prosecutor Johan Swart opposed Toffa's bail application, on the grounds that he would interfere with or intimidate State witnesses if released on bail. - Sapa
