Johannesburg - Four awaiting-trial prisoners are still at large after they escaped while being transported to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court from Johannesburg Prison (known as Sun City).
Police spokeswoman Captain Julia Claasen said the police were appealing for information from the public that might lead to their arrest.
The prisoners were due to appear in court on October 30, but escaped before the police truck could enter the court’s courtyard.
Bongani Mhlanga was charged with murder, Joseph Manyisa was arrested for house robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Bernado Antonion Ben (not pictured) was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, stolen goods and linked to a house robbery. The fourth prisoner, Russel Makgoro (not pictured), faces charges of housebreaking and theft.
