Eastern Cape - It will take time for model Reeva Steenkamp's family to recover from her death, her brother Adam told the SABC on Wednesday.

“The family is starting to deal with everything better, now that we have said farewell to my sister. It is going to take time,” Steenkamp said outside the family home in Port Elizabeth.

Paralympian Oscar Pistorius is charged with murdering Steenkamp, who was his girlfriend, at his home in Pretoria last week.

In an affidavit read to the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, he said Steenkamp was shot through a bathroom door, where he thought an intruder was hiding.

Steenkamp was cremated in a private ceremony in her home town on Tuesday.

Adam told the broadcaster the family was keeping its ears open to find out the truth about her death, but that it was not “sitting down hungry” to watch the news and read newspapers.

Adam said he “does not have feelings” towards Pistorius. “I do not know the guy.” - Sapa
