Durban - A jilted metro policewoman has committed suicide outside her former partner’s place of employment in Chatsworth.

Off-duty officer Pretty Mseleku, 32, shot herself in the head with her service pistol after apparently being dumped by her boyfriend via Whatsapp.

Mseleku was seated in her motor vehicle outside the Bayview police station on Friday when she pulled the trigger. Her ex-boyfriend is a constable stationed at Bayview Police Station.

According to a well-placed source Mseleku, a mother of two children, had been communicating with her boyfriend on Whatsapp when the constable made his intentions clear.

She then drove to the station and tried to lure her ex-boyfriend to her car.

According to the source, the constable suspected the woman intended to end both their lives as she sent numerous messages requesting him to join her outside.

“The constable was advised to hand in his firearm and not to meet the woman,” the source said.

By this time the constable had alerted Mseleku’s brother, who rushed to the scene.

When Mseleku saw her brother walking to the car, she fired the fatal shot.

SAPS spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident and said an inquest docket was being investigated.
