Johannesburg - Job-seekers must be aware of bogus job adverts on Gumtree, the Gauteng provincial government said on Tuesday.

“We would like to warn unsuspecting members of the public against adverts which were placed on a number of websites including Gumtree,” spokesman Sithembiso Ndlovu said in a statement.

Apparently job-seekers were requested to pay a once-off administration fee of R150.

“Please note that these advertisements are fraudulent as the Gauteng provincial government does not charge its residents for job applications.”

Ndlovu advised the public to ignore such adverts.

He said details of Gauteng provincial government vacancies were freely accessible on their website. - Sapa
