Johannesburg - More than 800 drunk drivers were arrested in Johannesburg during the festive season, Johannesburg metro police said on Thursday.
“Here we are talking about 806 that we have arrested from 1 December to 31 December (2012),” spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
Minnaar said this was higher compared to 688 drunk drivers that were arrested during the same period in 2011.
He said metro police would continue with road blocks over the weekend. It expected a large number of motorists to be coming from different provinces into Johannesburg. - Sapa
