Johannesburg - Two men accused of stealing a motorbike were arrested in central Johannesburg on Thursday morning, Gauteng police said.

They were allegedly caught in possession of the bike on the corner of Market and Goud streets in the early hours, said Warrant Office Xoli Mbele.

“It is alleged that the suspects stole the motorbike in the Brixton area on the Wednesday.”

She said the men were arrested by officers who had been conducting a routine patrol.

“They saw a suspicious white bakkie with four occupants inside. They stopped it; two suspects ran away and the other two were cornered.”

The bike was found on the back of the bakkie covered with a blanket.

The men would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon, said Mbele. - Sapa
