Johannesburg - Three pedestrians were robbed by men carrying a toy gun in central Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

The incident happened at the corner of Bree and Loveday streets on Tuesday morning, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.

“Three suspects were captured by closed-circuit television cameras while robbing three men,” he said.

“The victims were walking when they were approached by the suspects.”

One of them withdrew the gun, while another searched them.

Cellphones and R600 in cash were taken.

Mbele said police were dispatched to the scene and two of them were caught. The third man escaped.

“Two cellphones were recovered and a toy gun.”

The two were due to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
