Cape Town - A handwriting expert testified on Monday that the wife of slain acting judge Patrick Maqubela tried to forge his signature on his will, SABC radio reported.

Colonel Marco van der Hammen told the Western Cape High Court that Maqubela's signature on a will dated 2009 had changed from 2003.

Thandi Maqubela is suspected altering the will to make herself the major beneficiary.

Maqubela's body was found in his luxury apartment in Bantry Bay in June 2009. Thandi and her co-accused, businessman Vela Mabena, face charges of murder, fraud and forgery. Both have pleaded not guilty. - Sapa
