Johannesburg - A 29-old-man man who allegedly shot dead his girlfriend after an argument in Zola, Soweto, has died in hospital, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
“He was taken to hospital but we got the report yesterday (Tuesday) that he also passed on and we have opened an inquest docket which we are investigating,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
Further investigations led to the man's firearm being seized. It would be sent for ballistic testing to see if it was used to commit any other crimes.
On Tuesday, Makhubela said the man allegedly shot his girlfriend in the head and several times in the upper body, at the boyfriend's home.
“The boyfriend later turned the gun on himself but did not die. He was taken to (Chris Hani) Baragwanath Hospital where he is under police guard,” he said at the time. - Sapa
