Kimberley – While the domestic violence incident that led to a bloody shooting in Kimberley was widely condemned on Thursday, a Facebook post by the shooter, posted just more than an hour before an altercation with his wife, appealed for help and stated that he was “not fine” and “cross”.

Former policeman, Xolani Feni, was shot dead in the shoot-out which took place after a domestic dispute with his wife at the SAPS Provincial Head Office.

A largely incoherent post, posted by Feni on his Facebook page at 2:50pm reads as follows:

“A Police General at the Northern Cape Provincial Office brought a (stranger) General, who has got no name, to the office where my wife is working as a staff officer for her and she left them. The (stranger) General then instructed my wife to lock the office and go with to the mall’s Nedbank for his personal issues. My wife asked him to use a state car but he refused and they went."

“I asked my wife the General’s name but she did not know the name. I asked her boss and she said it is not for me to know. I got cross and as such I feel like telling everybody so as to seriously advise."

“Also I noticed that that General’s name is so expensive for me to know and I need advice. I prayed but I am not fine. The worse part is my wife too asked the name but could not get it. If it was you, what would you do?”

In the post’s comment section, Feni adds the following at 3:09pm:

“I know this is too personal but I feel one of you may come with good advice quickly. Don’t correct me by posting it on Facebook. I need your assistance. I know you love me, my wife, not a stranger General. I also hope everyone is looking to help me. Make it quickly please!”

The last post on Feni’s Facebook page, before he was killed during the shooting, was done at 3:49pm, only minutes before the incident, that took place around 4:15 pm.

Northern Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Peter Shivuri, could not say when Feni left the police service, but confirmed that he (Feni) resigned from a security company where he worked to come to Kimberley and live with his wife.

On his Facebook page Feni describes himself as a “person who lives by faith and stands for truth.”
