Johannesburg - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir will know later on Friday if he will be granted bail.

After hearing lengthy arguments in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court, Magistrate Reginald Dama said he would deliver his judgment later in the afternoon and adjourned proceedings.

It was an eventful day in court as Krejcir sought to add new merits to his application. He told the court he needed bail as his wife Katerina Krejcirova had been arrested earlier in the day and there was no one to take care of his young son. He has two children, aged four and 21.

Krejcirova was arrested during a court adjournment in connection with an alleged stolen car reportedly found on the couple's property in the Vaal.

Krejcir said police were now looking for his son, and he too would be arrested. Krejcirova would likely be kept in police custody over the weekend, and appear in court on Monday.

Krejcir submitted his ailing mother, who did not speak English, would not be able to take care of his four-year-old.

Dressed in a pink outfit, Krejcir's mother sat in the front row of the court listening to proceedings. She later wrapped herself in a designer scarf and paged through some papers.

During the adjournment, Krejcir and his lawyer smiled as they engaged in conversation. This was Krejcir's third bail bid following his arrest in November on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
