Johannesburg - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir took to the stand to testify in his bail application at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court in Johannesburg on Friday.

His lawyer, Annelene van den Heever, said she wanted her client to testify in the light of the arrest of his wife earlier Friday morning.

Krejcir testified that there was no one to take care of their four-year-old son, as the police had indicated that Krejcirova would only appear in court on Friday.

The businessman was arrested in November on kidnapping and attempted murder charges.

Krejcirova was arrested at the court in connection with an allegedly stolen car found on the couple's Vaal property, lawyer Piet du Plessis said.

After consulting with police and her husband's lawyers, four armed police officers led Krejcirova out of the court. They placed her in a police vehicle and drove off with her. It was unclear which police station she was taken to. - Sapa
