Margate - Three men have been arrested for beating to death an off-duty policeman in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.

The 26-year-old policeman was walking with friends on Saturday night when the men walked up to them and swore at them, said Colonel Jay Naicker.

“The deceased intervened and warned the suspect(s) to stop using vulgar language, and proceeded to walk (on).”

They beat him to death with a blunt object.

Naicker said the men, aged between 24 and 32, were expected to appear soon in court. - Sapa
