Durban - The trial of a Durban doctor, his wife and three other people accused of human trafficking and keeping a brothel where children were kept resumed in the Durban Regional Court on Monday.

The court is currently hearing a trial within-a-trial to determine the validity of a search warrant issued for the Inn Town Lodge, in Durban's Point area.

At issue is the authenticity of an affidavit by an investigating officer, which could deem evidence pertaining to the search inadmissible.

The offences allegedly took place at the Down Town Lodge and the Inn Town Lodge.

Genchen Rugnath, his wife Ravina, Sandile Patrick Zweni, Nonduzo Dlamini, and Bhabha Dubazini have pleaded not guilty to 156 charges, including assault, rape, sexual exploitation of a child, and racketeering.

The trial continues.
