Johannesburg - A man has been jailed for life by the Mtunzini High Court for murder and hijacking, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.
Sibongiseni Mbuyazi Mbonambi, 25, was on Thursday also given 15 years for robbery, said Colonel Jay Naicker.
His co-accused, Zamani Magwaza, 23, was sentenced to 15 years for robbery with aggravated circumstances.
The two hijacked and shot dead a woman in 2012, said Naicker.
They were traced and found in possession of the woman's car and an unlicensed firearm.
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended police for the arrests and proper investigations.
“The role of a detective in the criminal justice process is crucial as it would be pointless arresting suspects only to see them released by the courts due to poor investigations.”
