Brits - An attorney practising in the Brits area in North West has been arrested on 20 counts of theft amounting to R12.5 million, the Hawks said on Thursday.
The woman, who was arrested at her parents' home in Klerksdorp, was previously arrested in 2009 in connection with the theft of attorney's trust funds. She was subsequently struck off the roll following a law society investigation.
At the time, her criminal case was provisionally withdrawn. However, she was re-arrested on Wednesday after the director of public prosecutions issued a warrant of arrest.
She appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Pretoria on Thursday and was granted bail.
She was due to appear in court again on March 7.
