Tzaneen - A Limpopo man has been jailed for life for killing a farmer in Constantia, Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Wednesday.

Lt-Col Ronel Otto said Slow Rodgers Makhubevele, 39, was sentenced by the Tzaneen High Court on Monday for killing 49-year-old Paul Dunn.

He was jailed for another 15 years for housebreaking, seven years for illegal possession of a firearm and three years for possession of ammunition.

Otto said Makhubevele and two accomplices broke into Dunn's house on the night of February 27, 2010, by cutting the electric fence surrounding the property and breaking a window.

Dunn woke up and a shoot-out ensued in which he was hit in the chest and abdomen and died on the scene.

Makhubevele was shot and wounded and was arrested the same day. His accomplices were still at large. - Sapa
