Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal -

A KwaZulu-Natal man was jailed for life by the Pongola High Court on Friday for the murders of three people, police said.

“He was sentenced to three terms of life imprisonment for the murders and a further 10 years imprisonment for arson,” Captain Thulani Zwane said.

Zwane said Phumlani Smart Dlomo hacked his aunt Masisi Gabi Mhlongo, 48, and her two children, Fanelesibonge Ntuli, eight, and Amahle Nxumalo, five, to death outside their home in Mbitane Ward, in Maphumulo on January 30 this year.

He then dragged them into the house, doused it with petrol and set it alight.

He accused the aunt of witchcraft. - Sapa
