Limpopo - The trial of two people accused of fraud was postponed by the Polokwane Magistrate's Court for further investigation, police said on Tuesday.

Kholofelo Mamashila, 30, and Mpho Phasha, 33, allegedly forged salary slips and bank statements to apply for loans, spokeswoman Lt-Col Ronel Otto said.

They were arrested in Polokwane on Saturday. Forged bank statements and identity documents, cellphones, laptops, printers, and application forms were seized.

“It is suspected that they produced the false documents for the public in order to apply for loans, or purchase goods from stores.”

The matter was postponed to August 19. The two remain in custody. - Sapa
