Rustenburg – A gun-wielding man made off with an undisclosed amount of money after he allegedly robbed G4S security officers in Klerksdorp on Tuesday, North West police said.

Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said two security officers were collecting money at a filling station in Extension 1, Jouberton, near Klerksdorp, when they were robbed..

One of the two security officers collected money at the filling station while the other one, a driver, was waiting inside the vehicle as a norm.

“The one who collected money was approaching the security vehicle and about to open the back door in order to enter when he heard footsteps. He then suddenly saw a man who hit him with a gun at the back of his head.

“The security official fell on the ground and lost consciousness. The suspect took the security official’s firearm, as well as the money bag and fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Polo Vivo.”

The other security officer ran for cover and was not injured. No arrest has been made yet, he said.
