Johannesburg - Suspended Kempton Park chief magistrate Judy van Schalkwyk will be called to appear before a disciplinary committee on charges of serious misconduct, Beeld reported.
Among the complaints the Magistrates Commission will investigate against her is that she ordered magistrates and clerks to take her to gambling venues and private appointments during office hours.
Magistrates Commission secretary Danie Schoeman confirmed that Van Schalkwyk's hearing would begin as soon as possible.
Justice Minister Jeff Radebe informed her on June 4 in writing that she was being temporarily suspended until disciplinary proceedings had been completed.
Her suspension was ratified by the National Council of Provinces on Tuesday. - Sapa
