Johannesburg - AfriForum has posted CCTV footage on YouTube in which EFF leader Julius Malema can be seen pushing a man inside a fast food restaurant in Tzaneen, Limpopo, in August.

The group say they will help the man, Cassie Moller, lay charges of assault, intimidation and crimen injuria against Malema at the Tzaneen police station on Thursday morning.

AfriForum said Malema also called Moller “a boer” and threatened him with violence.

“Julius Malema is a member of parliament, a public representative, and it’s quite evident that he views himself above the law and his fellow citizens,” said Ernst Roets, AfriForum’s deputy chief executive, on Thursday morning.

Malema hit back at these allegations on Thursday morning and said the man was threatening one of the employees of the restaurant.

“He was being aggressive so I pushed him out of the shop. I won’t sit back and allow the abuse of black workers,” Malema said.

He said he was prepared to face any charges laid against him in this matter.

AfriForum said the incident took place inside a fast food restaurant in Tzaneen on August 6 after Moller’s wife had been waiting for her order while Moller waited outside.

After 15 minutes, he enters the restaurant and leans over the counter while talking to someone out of frame.

Malema follows inside shortly after him and the pair appear to get into an argument - although the video has no audio - and then Malema shoves Moller in the chest.

Less than two minutes later, Moller’s wife leaves with their order in a brown bag while another man pushes Moller out of the restaurant.

In 2011, Judge Colin Lamont ruled that the singing of the struggle song, Dubula iBhunu (Shoot the Boer), by Malema amounted to hate speech.
