Kimberley - Northern Cape police are investigating the rape of a man and a teenage girl in two unrelated incidents in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police in Jan Kempdorp were investigating a case of rape after a 54-year-old man from Valspan, Jan Kempdorp, was raped at about 5.40am, Lt-Col Hendrik Swart said on Sunday.

“It is alleged that the victim was asleep at his home when a 30-year-old suspect opened his bedroom window to gain entry to the house. The suspect then hit the victim over his head with a blunt object and then raped him. The suspect was arrested by the police soon afterwards,” he said.

In the other incident, police in Kakamas were investigating a case of rape after a 17-year-old girl from Cilliers Street in Kakamas was raped at about 1am.

“It is alleged that the victim was at home drinking beer with her friends. She afterwards became intoxicated and went to sleep. After a while a man known to her by sight, woke her up and told her that she had been raped by the suspect, lying behind her in bed. The suspect was arrested soon afterwards,” Swart said.
