A man appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Monday for allegedly raping a pensioner in Mmamatsha, Limpopo police said.

The 73-year-old woman was asleep when the 23-year-old man broke into her house through a window and raped her on Sunday morning, Constable Moses Molepo said.

The man was arrested shortly after the case was reported to the police. The pensioner identified her attacker.

The man was in custody and expected to bring a bail application on July 12. - Sapa
