Eastern Cape - An Eastern Cape man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, stabbing her grandmother and allegedly kidnapping another woman has been arrested, police said on Monday.
The 28-year-old allegedly stabbed Nomandithi Goniwe, 25, to death after attacking Goniwe's grandmother Nomandithi Velebhayi, 85 in Mfece, Kwaaiman.
The man reportedly flew into a rage after Goniwe ended their relationship on Saturday, the Dispatch Online reported.
Police spokesman Major Zamukulungisa Jozana said the man allegedly kicked the door down after Goniwe refused to let him into her home. He allegedly stabbed her grandmother twice. Goniwe ran into a neighbour's house. The man ran after her and allegedly stabbed her.
Earlier on Monday it was reported that he had kidnapped another woman in the same area, but police suspected she was in a relationship with him.
“She is back home now. She was reluctant to say anything to the police, so we are assuming that they are a couple,” Jozana said.
Last month the man allegedly assaulted Goniwe when she went to visit him in Cape Town.
The grandmother was in critical condition. A broken knife was found on the scene.
The man was expected to appear in the Kwaaiman Periodical Court on Monday. He would face charges of murder and assault with the intention to cause grievious bodily harm. - Sapa
