Komberley - A 38-year-old man was arrested in Kimberley on Monday after a hit-and-run accident, Northern Cape police said.

He was taken into custody for running over a man and killing him on Sunday night, said Lieutenant Donald Mdhluli.

Apparently the 30-year-old was knocked down on Pniel Road, and the car did not stop after the accident.

He was taken to hospital and died on arrival, said Mdhluli.

He said the man was facing charges of murder, negligent driving, culpable homicide and failing to observe injuries.

He would appear in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
