Johannesburg - A man was arrested at the Lebombo border post between South Africa and Mozambique for possession of drugs, the SA Revenue Service (Sars) said on Saturday.
Spokeswoman Marika Muller said the Sars customs team stopped a man driving a Mozambican vehicle at the border on Friday night.
“The custom team discovered five boxes of (a) green plant substance in his vehicle,” said Muller.
“The customs team, along with the Sars detector dog team and the...(police) at the border post identified the contents as 'Khat', a stimulant drug derived from an East African shrub which contains the chemical compound Cathinone.”
The man was due to be charged soon. - Sapa
