Johannesburg - A 24-year-old Somali man was arrested for alleged possession of counterfeit money, said Alicedale police on Thursday.

The man was stopped at a road-block in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape on Tuesday.

“The driver, who is the owner of the vehicle, was not in possession of a driver's licence,” said police.

“During a search of the vehicle, a blue plastic bag was found hidden in the canopy. It contained light grey paper resembling R100 notes. All of these had the same serial number and some were stained with powder.”

Police seized all the notes and a computer.
