Springs, East Rand -
A man has been arrested after his wife was killed with a home-made gun in Springs on the East Rand, Gauteng police said on Monday.
The shooting took place on Sunday when the couple was packing furniture, about to move out from the room they were renting in Geduld, Captain Johannes Ramphora said.
“The husband said the bullet came out of a gun that fell on the floor from underneath the mattress.”
The gun was fabricated from legal firearm material, elastic bands, and an iron nail. The 33-year-old man alerted police who called paramedics. His wife had been shot in the neck and died shortly after their arrival.
The man would appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. - Sapa
