Johannesburg - A Welkom businessman was arrested on Friday for possession of contraband cigarettes worth about R300 000, Free State police said.
“Business premises were visited in Welkom CBD... illicit cigarettes were found inside the business premises,” Captain Stephen Thakeng said on Friday.
A fine of about R1 million or five years in jail could be imposed if the man was found guilty.
