Man charged after accidentally shooting son

Johannesburg - A man who accidentally shot his son at a hunting expo in Midrand has been charged with negligent use of a firearm, The New Age reported on Thursday.

Sean Kotzin was arrested on Wednesday and appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate's Court, Johannesburg, where he was granted R2 000 bail. The case was postponed to May 21 for further investigation.

His seven-year-old son was in a stable condition in Carstenhof Hospital. The boy was critically wounded at Gallagher Estate on Monday at HuntEx 2014. Kotzin went into the toilet cubicle with his son, where his gun went off, wounding the boy in the chest. - Sapa
