A man appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of culpable homicide and drunken driving, Limpopo police said.

The matter was postponed to September 28 for further investigation. Harris Kekana, 41, was released on R1000 bail, said Constable Moses Molepo.

He was arrested on Saturday around 8pm for allegedly hitting Caswell Madiga, 90, with his car on Boyne road in Ga-Molepo, east of Polokwane.

Madiga was apparently crossing the road at the time. He died at the scene.
