Man dead, boy in hospital after shootings

Cape Town - A man was killed and a 12-year-old boy was wounded in a spate of gang shootings on the Cape Flats over the past few days.

In Kleinvlei, Eersterivier, a 20-year-old man was shot dead on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said police found the man in Park Street, Spandau Village, in Kleinvlei, at about 8.45pm.

Police were called to the area after residents complained after hearing gunshots.

Van Wyk said: “They noticed that the victim who was standing in the street fell on the ground.

“He had a gunshot wound to the lower back and died on the scene.”

The motive for the killing was still under investigation and a murder case had been opened.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two men for shooting a 12-year-old boy in Hanover Park on Sunday.

The incident took place in Tiberius Court at about 9.40pm.

The boy is still in hospital.
