Johannesburg - A man was killed in Rivonia in Johannesburg, in an apparent drive-by-shooting just after noon on Friday afternoon, police said.
Captain Kym Cloete said: “Just after (noon) the deceased was fatally shot in Wessel Road, near 12th Street by Rivonia Primary School.
“Eyewitnesses state there were three suspects and the motive for the killing is still under investigation. We are looking into possible leads why the shooting took place.”
It appeared the man had been in his car when he was shot, with police believing the three men involved were travelling in opposite directions at the time.
“No arrests have been made and no other injures were also reported. A murder docket has been opened,” said Cloete.
“The motive is under investigation.”
Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said when paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the wounded man in a critical condition.
“The man... died on the scene due to the extensive injuries he had sustained,” she said.
