Northern Cape - A man has been duped out of an undisclosed amount of money by a person impersonating a bank official in Kimberley, Northern Cape police said on Sunday.

“A neatly dressed woman, who impersonated bank officials offered to assist the man to deposit his money since the banking queue was full,” said Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana.

The man handed his cash to the woman, who went into an offices in the bank, in the incident on Saturday.

When the woman did not return, the man became suspicious and alerted bank officials that he had been defrauded.

Tawana said police were investigating a case of theft. No arrests had been made. - Sapa
