Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend in Johannesburg central, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

The man was arrested on Monday at his residence, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.

It is alleged that he raped his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend on May 31.

Both reside in the same building.

“(The) suspect called and ask to see her outside, she went outside and they had an argument,” said Mbele.

“The victim went back to her room and he followed her. The victim told him to leave because she wanted to sleep, he refused and started to rape her… ”

The man is due to appear in Johannesburg Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
