Johannesburg - A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and wounding of two small children and their mother in Dobsonville, Soweto, police said on Thursday.

“We have arrested a 33-year-old man,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

“He will appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court tomorrow (on Friday),” he said.

Two boys, aged two and three, and their 20-year-old mother were attacked during a robbery in their home in Dobsonville Extension three on Tuesday night .Two men were believed to be involved.

Makhubela said police were searching for the second suspect.

The two-year-old boy was stabbed three times on his head, and the three-year-old stabbed eight times in his body. The boys' mother received multiple stab wounds on her left arm.

The boys' 60-year-old grandmother was cut on her forehead during the robbery.
