Johannesburg -
Police shot and wounded a man after he threatened to shoot his girlfriend and her mother in Protea, Soweto, a spokesman said on Monday.
The man, aged 29, went to his girlfriend's home and tried to force her to leave with him, said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
“He drew a firearm and threatened to shoot his girlfriend and her mother because the girlfriend refused to leave with him,” Makhubela said.
The mother called the police.
When they arrived, the man opened fire at them, said Makhubela.
“Police shot him in his right thigh. He is in hospital under police guard.”
The man would appear soon in the Protea Magistrate's Court. - Sapa
