Cape Town - A man has been arrested for allegedly throwing a brick at a bus in Table View, a Cape Town official said on Thursday.

The MyCiTi bus was travelling along Blaauwberg Road on Thursday when a brick thrown at the vehicle hit the head of a 16-year-old pupil, said mayoral committee for transport Brett Herron. The youth suffered minor injuries.

Herron said a 19-year-old man was arrested after witnesses came forward.

They apparently saw the man pick up a brick and throw it at the vehicle while standing near a bus stop, close to Boy De Goede Circle.

Herron thanked the witnesses for coming forward.

“Let this be a clear warning that the city will not tolerate any attempt to disrupt our plans for safe public transport. We will prosecute any criminal individual that places MyCiTi staff or our passengers in danger to the full extent of the law,” he said. - Sapa
