Man held for dismantling stolen car

Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for dismantling a suspected stolen car in Soweto, Gauteng police said on Friday.

Police responded to the area after receiving information that two people were removing parts from the car, said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

One suspect was shot in the foot by police after he tried to attack them with an axe.

“His accomplice managed to run away, police are searching for him,” said Makhubela.

The injured 25-year-old was taken to hospital under police guard.

He is due to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
