A man was arrested in Burgersfort for allegedly promising people jobs at mines, Limpopo police said on Thursday.

The 27-year-old, who claimed to be a labour broker, was arrested on charges of fraud on Wednesday, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

“The suspect collected R1000 from each victim under the pretext that he was organising the services of a medical doctor to examine them before they could go underground.”

Mulaudzi said more people who were defrauded were coming forward as the investigation continued.

The man would appear in the Burgersfort Magistrate's Court soon.
