Durban - A 37-year-old man accused of house robbery, theft and false pretences has been arrested in Isipingo near Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.

The man, who was one of the most wanted by police, was arrested on Sunday at Reunion Beach, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

His arrest was a result of a joint operation by various police units.

On December 3, he and two accomplices allegedly robbed a couple at their Mayville home at gunpoint.

“They took jewellery, a laptop, cellphone, TV set and cash before they fled the scene in the complainant's BMW vehicle.”

In a separate case, a total of R645 000 was deposited into the man's account for a business that was for sale.

He pretended to be someone he was not, said Zwane.

The man would appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

KwaZulu-Natal commissioner Lt-Gen Mmamonnye Ngobeni said police would work around the clock to try to link him to other house robberies reported in the greater Durban area. - Sapa
