Johannesburg - A 33-year-old man wanted in connection with a couple's murder in Meadowlands, Soweto, handed himself over to police on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

Constable Sibusiso Chauke said a boyfriend and girlfriend leaving a party in Zone Three were killed on August 16.

Shortly after they left, gunshots were heard. Partygoers found the 28-year-old man had been shot. He died on arrival at a hospital.

His girlfriend, who had also been shot, died before paramedics arrived.

The man would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
