Qunu - A man accused of murdering and raping an elderly woman in Kotishini, Qunu, eight years ago was arrested early on Wednesday, Eastern Cape police said.
The 40-year-old man was apprehended in Bityi, Lt-Col Mzukisi Fatyela said.
Nowam Gqekeza, 70, was found next to her garden on June 28, 2006. She had been stabbed and showed signs of sexual assault.
The man had been on the run ever since. He was expected to appear in the Bityi Periodical Court on Thursday. - Sapa
