A 31-year-old man has been arrested for the rape of his ex-girlfriend in Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.
Spokesman Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said the man was arrested on Sunday morning after the woman opened a case of rape against him.
“The man took a cellphone off the woman by force on the street. He told her to come to his room to fetch it,” Mbele said.
“The woman followed her ex-boyfriend to his place because she wanted her cellphone back. He raped her and released her in the morning.”
The man is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of rape. - Sapa
