Pretoria - Pretoria police arrested a 29-year-old man for stealing batteries valued at R60 000 from a Vodacom tower in Alexandra on Friday.

“These batteries have tracking devices and GPS co-ordinates traced them to Olievenhoutbosch,” said spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.

“A private investigator, assisted by Olievenhoutbosch police, managed to arrest the suspect,” Selepe said.

The batteries were found inside a vehicle used as a bread delivery van.

“The same vehicle is alleged to be involved in another similar incident at Soshanguve,” said Selepe.

The suspect was expected to appear in Pretoria Magistrate Court for possession of stolen property soon.
