A 29-year-old man has been arrested after he was found in possession of R500 000 in cash in Beaufort West, Western Cape police said on Monday.

Captain Bernadine Steyn said police stopped a Marco Polo bus on the N1 highway en route to Joburg on Saturday.

It was searched and a black suitcase containing the money was found in the luggage compartment.

“The owner of the suitcase was then arrested for suspected stolen goods”, Steyn said

He would appear in Beaufort West Magistrate's Court on Monday facing charges of stolen property. – Sapa
