Johannesburg - A 28-year-old man was arrested in central Johannesburg for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, police said on Sunday.
Officers on a routine crime prevention operation spotted the “suspicious male” in the centre of the city on Saturday, said Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele.
“They stopped and searched him, recovered a 9mm (pistol) without a serial number and 14 live rounds,” said Mbele.
He said the man would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court to answer charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. - Sapa
